History

Faith Covenant Fellowship was organized under "God's instruction & direction," and the Pastoral leadership of Pastors Jay & E'dee Gregory on Sunday, August 8, 1993. The first service was held at the Northwest Activities Center in Northwest Detroit. The following services—Sundays and mid-week--were held at the 11000 W. McNichols Building in Detroit (God gave us favor in that we were allowed to use this facility free of charge.) However, within seven months we had outgrown this space.

In March of 1994, Faith Covenant Fellowship leased the St. James Lutheran Church at 14450 Ashton in Detroit; we held Sunday morning and mid-week service, Higher Learning classes and various rehearsals for six years. While there, God added to the church; many souls were won; many lives were changed; marriages healed and many given in marriage.

During the spring of 2000 God planted the vision of having our very own facility in the hearts of Pastors Jay & E'dee. After sharing this vision with the congregation, we, with great anticipation, began to look. We formed what we called "the sanctuary project" a building fund, to generate monies to be prepared financially when the opportunity arose to purchase an edifice suitable for us. We looked for only a short period of time—a month to be exact—and we found it! It was everything we hoped and prayed for—and much more! God gave us favor, He made a way for us to purchase our beautiful present facility--17901 Collinson in Eastpointe, Michigan. On Sunday, September 10, 2000, we held our first service in "our very own" edifice—God is faithful, and with His grace to keep us we will continue to grow in every way imaginable.

On Sunday, August 12, 2001, we dedicated our present facility as well as our lives and all that God gives us a mind to do (to Him who alone is worthy.) The sanctuary was filled to capacity on that day; all of the Eastpointe Public and City officials worshiped with us. Bishop Keith Butler of The Word of Faith International Christian Center was the keynote speaker—he delivered an inspiring message that blessed us all. It was a beautiful and memorable dedication service.

God has placed in our midst everything needed in His service to win souls, heal broken hearts and sick bodies, encourage, deliver, support, build, restore marriages, change and ministry to all age groups. We have experienced a tremendous growth, and because of it, God has given us an additional mandate…(Isaiah 54:2) "Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes."

We have been blessed to secure properties adjacent to our present facility, and expansion is in the making. We are excited and in great expectation of all the blessings that lie ahead. God is faithful and true to His Word!
